About
Karrie Weaver has more than 25 years of intellectual property experience. Her practice involves various aspects of patent, trademark, and trade secret law, including the evaluation, protection, portfolio management, and utilization of intellectual property.
Karrie received a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Genetics, with Distinction in Molecular Genetics, and with Honors in the Arts and Sciences, from The Ohio State University, and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
She has worked both in-house and at law firms prosecuting patents in areas including biotechnology, life sciences, polymer composites, food science, medical device, coating technologies, chemical arts, and mechanical arts. Karrie has assisted companies ranging from start-up to multinational in size. She works with clients to build and maximize intellectual property portfolios that align with client technology and business goals.
Karrie's trademark practice includes all aspects of the selection, clearance, and registration of new brands. Her specialties include preparation of trademark clearance and availability opinions, preparation and prosecution of trademark applications, and management of global trademark portfolios. She handles trademark matters for clients conducting business in a wide variety of industries, including medical device, technology research services, food and beverages, data management services, retail goods and services, financial services, jewelry, material additives, advertising and marketing services, telecommunications, pet products, games, education services, software, and cosmetics.
Karrie is admitted to the Wisconsin Bar, Minnesota Bar, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
